Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to the files you upload to MediaToText and what information we collect when you use the site.
What you give us
The only thing you actively give us is the audio or video file you choose to convert, together with the language you select for it.
We do not ask for an account, an email address, or a name. There is no sign-up form, so we hold no profile of you.
How your file is processed
When you press the convert button, your file is uploaded to our server and placed in a queue. It is then converted to text and the result is returned to your browser.
The transcript itself is held in your browser. Editing it changes only your local copy. The text you download is generated on your device from data already in the page.

We are confirming with our infrastructure team exactly how long uploaded files are retained, when they are deleted, and whether any third-party service is involved in processing them. Until that is confirmed in writing, we will not make a claim here, because a privacy policy that guesses is worse than no policy at all.

Analytics
If analytics is enabled, we collect aggregate usage information: which pages are visited, which converters are used, and whether conversions succeed or fail.
We deliberately do not send the content of your transcript, the content of your file, or the name of your file to any analytics service. File size and recording length are recorded only as broad ranges, never exact values, because an exact size combined with an exact length can identify a specific recording.
Advertising and personalisation storage are disabled by default.
What we store in your browser
Your most recent transcript is saved in your browser so that reloading the page does not lose your work. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is removed automatically after 24 hours. Pressing "Start over" removes it immediately.
Your language preference for the site interface is also stored locally.
Your choices
You can clear anything stored locally by clearing site data in your browser, or by pressing "Start over" in the converter.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your files are handled, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not make a change quietly and backdate it.
